The customer, a large specialty retailer was transforming their business and betting big on Digital transformation with investments into creating new omnichannel experiences (online, mobile, and in-store) for their customers. To achieve this, they needed to overhaul their internal platforms and applications with new capabilities. They had to modernize their legacy middleware to build efficiency and resilience into their business processes and, improve throughput and productivity. They needed a modern, scalable middleware platform with real-time integration capabilities and a partner with the expertise to deliver this transformation.

The Solution

A comprehensive evaluation of multiple solutions, running simulations across live scenarios and close-to-production data exchanges led to a pinpointed middleware modernization roadmap.  The final solution blueprint leveraged Azure Logic Apps to create a modern cloud-based integration platform, replacing legacy Biztalk.

  • Azure Integration Services were used to attain hybrid integrations within the organization on-premises systems using the on-premises gateway and secured internet-facing systems
  • Azure Integration Services were refactored to directly integrate with downstream services bypassing the existing BizTalk published services
  • The integration layer refactoring sat on the platform as an invisible layer to the client applications which were shielded by the service contracts from stage 2 resulting in the retirement of the Biztalk Server
