Major day-to-day tasks:

  • Gather inventory data about current hardware, software, database, and other middleware systems. Analyzes and evaluate lifecycle, end of life, support agreement with vendors.
  • Work with the IT architect team, security team, procurement team to understand, analyze Architecture roadmap, security requirement and compliance policy, procurement lifecycle and budgeting cycles.
  • Analyze the current data of applications, servers, middleware, Operating systems, map EOL date, extended support agreement, technical functions and business capabilities and research on how the technical capabilities can be consolidated with newer technology or later version of the software and systems.
  • Identify systems which should be upgraded, and which should be discontinued. Prioritize upgrade and demolition based on the business criticality of the applications and systems.
  • Closely collaborates with architects (software, platform and infrastructure) teams to understand core components of our platform, dives deep into business problems, identifies opportunities for enhancements and designs solutions leveraging cloud infrastructure.
  • Use previous knowledge and skillset, and provide meaningful recommendations and analysis to identify critical deficiencies, improves security posture, reduces obsolescence, reduces data sprawl, influences decisions, and sets technical direction for the cloud infrastructure architecture.
  • Provides strong functional thought leadership and consulting in the infrastructure solutions space and acts as an advisor to the software architects and engineering teams on industry best practices.
  • Develops architectural artifacts, architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams and related supporting documentation.
  • Performs architecture design reviews and deep dives with software architects and other cross functional teams.
  • Actively participates in Proof-of-Concept work to evaluate cloud services, third-party vendor products/services and capabilities to test the impact of new technology for replacement.
  • Evangelizes re-use through implementation of shared assets architecture.
  • Enforces adherence to architectural standards/principles for existing and new solutions.
  • Design and integrate new system for logging/monitoring solutions for applications and infrastructure that provides the right level of observability into the platform.
  • Ensure proper disaster recovery solutions and works closely with Production Operations team to ensure DR plans are created and updated as needed due to business, environmental or regulatory changes
  • Collaborates with lateral teams such as Information Security and Quality/Compliance to ensure technical solutions meet the established standards, policies, and requirements, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides expertise and recommendation on development and deployment of self-serve infrastructure provisioning and orchestration pipelines (IaC, CI/CD).
  • Develops architecture best practices and mentors new and less experienced team members to evolve the overall architecture expertise within the team.
  • Keeps up to date on best practices and emerging technologies in cloud computing and recommends improvements to the cloud infrastructure.

What you are best at:

  • Should be hands on and solid background on Operating systems (Linux, Windows) and system engineering priciples.
  • Deep technical expertise in designing and implementing resilient, scalable (potentially multi-site/region) modernized architectures and cloud solutions using Azure cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience designing secure network architectures in cloud with data isolation, Hub and Spoke model, Landing Zones and Bastion host for access control.
  • Experience designing and working with containers/Kubernetes (Docker, AKS), serverless architecture.
  • Skilled at understanding and translating high-level requirements into technical designs/architecture and their implementation.
  • Proven experience working with Data center virtualization, database, middleware, applications, DevOps process, range of cloud service like Azure, AWS, GCP etc.
  • Solid technical knowledge of infrastructure components such as Compute, Network, Storage and relational, NoSQL and/or Distributed Databases.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security and data encryption (at rest/in transit)
  • Strong understanding of Azure well architected framework and infrastructure security best practices with relevant experience designing and implementing solutions in accordance with the framework.
  • Strong understanding of scale and performance impact of Infrastructure design.
  • Strong understanding of Architecture and design patterns.

Must Have:

  • B.S. in Computer science or equivalent.
  • VMware, cloud certifications e.g., Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Professional Architect strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, developing, migrating, and implementing cloud solutions
  • 2+ years of experience with micro-services/containers and serverless architecture
  • Experience in implementing healthcare regulatory compliance and risk management requirements (e.g., security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA, ASIP etc.)
  • Understanding of system hardware and on-premises datacenter knowledges
