Pay Rate: 54.89/hr to $55.89/hr

Job Description:

• As a Hardware Engineer – Hardware, the candidate will work on initiatives and complex cross-functional projects or programs that focus on the building of new, the alteration of existing, and the closing of end-of-life material handling and technology systems inclusive of Hardware, Controls and Software.
• The candidate will also lead the design and development of hardware, including sensors and edge compute devices for next generation Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform being developed to improve equipment, process and operator workflows.
• Have an established background in delivering high-performance physical systems, strong technical problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and internal motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
• A successful candidate participates in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs.
• Lead and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective.
• Design, develop, and emulate engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the North American fulfillment network
• Design, develop, and configure IIoT hardware for equipment, process, and operator workflow improvements
• Lead and coordinated concept efforts for optimal solutions for the North American fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations, and site layout
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure that every detail is thought through and documented using Standard Operating Procedures and/or structured change control
• Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and other teams to come up with innovative solutions.
• Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (i.e. first-order analysis, structural design behavior, electrical, mechanical systems, data analysis, systems modelling, etc.) and of the fundamentals involved in the hardware manufacturing process.
• Demonstrated design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
• May be some light travel to sites maybe 3-4 trips during the duration of the contract. HM is not sure where those would be located.

Group:

• Hardware Dev Team part of the Global Engineer Services org.
• The team specifically looks at retrofit projects, so any new technology or hardware has to go into their development they look and develop and conduct the initial concept and hand it off to launch.

Key projects:

• Mostly be hardware projects not decided on which ones yet.

Reason of request:

• 3 Hardware pilot projects that are planned to be launched this year will be delayed to next year.

• Stakeholders, customer groups, and the other.

Training/Ramp-up:

• Dependent on the skill set of candidates. In 2-4 weeks the candidate is expected to be ramped up.

Core Requirements:

• 3+ years’ experience as a Hardware engineer, manufacturing engineer, or related occupation.
• Experience working with and configuring sensors (vision, depth, etc.) and edge compute devices in industrial environments.
• Experience with MS Office products: Excel, Project and Outlook.
• Knowledge in Emulate 3D
• Experience or Knowledge in PLCs.
• Experience or Knowledge in Python, C++ or similar programming language
• Experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, MATLAB, Sketchup, or other advanced design software
• Experience designing hardware products

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing
• Experience with IIoT product development, including development and configuration of sensors and edge compute devices
• Experience developing and supporting hardware/software systems across the product life cycle
• Experience in Emulate 3D or other Hardware Emulation software
• Experience in Python, C++ or similar programming language
• Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision-making
• Design-in-Safety experience.

Notes:

• Would be great the candidate has a Portfolio the HM can review not a must have a but nice to have.

Top 3 must-have hard skills:

• Experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, MATLAB, Sketchup, or other advanced design software
• Knowledge in Emulate 3D- Must be familiar with that or something similar
• Experience or Knowledge in Python, C++ or similar programming language
