Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 6 months
Responsibilities:
- Perform application-based sizing and selection of instrumentation and control devices critical for the operation and optimization of complex mechanical and process systems, including HVAC, Chilled
- Water, Compressed Air, and related utilities
- Employee will be focusing on engineering skills: reviewing documentation, drawings, specifications, project kickoffs, and multi-disciplinary understanding
- Industrial knowledge of instrumentation and controls is required
Programming knowledge is helpful, but not the primary focus - Contribute to the development and implementation of scalable and high-availability network architectures for plant-wide control systems, emphasizing reliability and security.
- Work in close collaboration with HMI developers and programmers to optimize data exchange protocols and enhance overall system usability and operator interfaces.
- Provide technical support and oversight to the Construction team and external Contractors to facilitate the efficient and accurate execution of project scopes of work.
- Generate detailed construction drawings, including both 2D and 3D content, to precisely define the installation scope of work for control systems.
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer
- Engineer, with a focus on automation and/or electromechanical systems within industrial environments.
- Experience with hardware selection, sensor sizing, reviewing P&IDs/PFDs, wiring details, and technical bid evaluations
- Advanced proficiency in modern text-based programming languages (Python, Java, C, VB) and relational database systems (MSSQL, MySQL, Access) is a significant plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit; 3D modeling skills (e.g., Navisworks) a plus
- Familiarity with PLC systems preferred
