Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Day to day:

• Lead design and development to ensure automation systems are simple, effective, and cost-efficient, while also enabling sustainable packaging and streamlined supply chains.
• Execute the design and manufacturing of in-house packaging machinery and automation, collaborating with Electrical and Controls teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers on packaging machinery and automation projects.
• Lead mechanical design workstreams, including core system evolution, structural design, safety/guarding, and integration of ancillary systems.
• Conduct engineering analysis, such as drive system modeling, load/bearing calculations, and torque simulations, and generate 3D/2D models and mechanical BOMs.
• Refine detailed designs of modules and subsystems based on material specs, geographic needs, and continuous improvement goals.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering to ensure complete and scalable project documentation (schematics, BOMs, I/Os, subsystem programs).
• Assist the project team with safety certifications (CE, UL, CSA, TUV, etc.).

Must haves:

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
• BS in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 8+ years of design experience for industrial automation
• Design of custom mechanical components
• Integration of sensors, actuators, and controls hardware with automated machinery
• Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Ansys, Creo, Catia, Solidworks
