Day to day:

  • The role primarily involves break-fix tasks on server hardware and network connections within data centers.
  • Troubleshooting skills are essential. Tickets provide guided paths for troubleshooting (e.g., checking memory chips, CPUs, heat sinks).
  • Familiarity with server hardware components (memory chips, CPUs, fans) and their replacement is a top skill.
  • Networking tasks involve tracing fiber/copper cables and checking ports.
  • Preference for candidates with data center experience or hands-on server hardware/cabling experience. Desktop support experience is considered a plus.
  • Software management skills are less relevant for this specific role.

Must-Have:

  • Focus on server hardware (CPU, memory, heat sink, etc.) and basic networking (cable tracing, port checking).
  • No installations involved; working with production systems.
  • Tickets provide guided paths for troubleshooting.
  • 6 months to a year of technical hardware troubleshooting
  • 1 year experience in data center well rounded in networking, server, cabling, hardware installation, motherboards, servers
  • Preferred: A year or more of hardware experience and a certification like A+
