Job Description:
Position Title: Security Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Work Type: 6-month (Contract-to-Hire)
Why:
- This role supports a lean, high-ownership security function responsible for securing the company's AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containers, SaaS tools, and endpoints.
- The company is scaling quickly and needs someone who can take ownership of technical security tasks and collaborate across platform, engineering, and compliance teams.
Must Haves:
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in security, DevOps, or cloud engineering
- Familiarity with AWS IAM, container services like ECS/EKS, and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, secure coding, and cloud-native security tooling
- Experience with endpoint security across Mac and Windows using configuration and compliance tools
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with developers, auditors, and cross-functional teams
- Strong sense of curiosity, eagerness to learn, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Plusses:
- Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Rust
- Familiarity with tools like GitHub Enterprise, Argos, Trivy
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, CIS, CSA CCM
- Contributions to open-source or personal security projects
- Experience working in lean or startup-style teams where people wear multiple hats
- Day to Day:
- Secure AWS configurations and enforce identity/access guardrails
- Partner with DevOps on image security, container hygiene, and CI/CD security gates
- Assist with secrets management, artifact handling, and secure build practices
- Lead and support vulnerability triage across cloud and endpoint scanners
- Participate in secure coding practices, code reviews, threat modeling, and SDLC planning
- Support endpoint compliance and govern SaaS application usage
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and auditors to support compliance (SOC 2 Type II)
- Contribute to internal security awareness training and foster a secure-by-default engineering culture.
Salary and Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $60 - $65 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
