Title: BIE II/Business Intelligence Engineer (Quicksight, Tableau)
Duration: 11 Months
Location: Remote, preferred Seattle, Boston
Pay Range: $50/hr to $51/hr with no benefits
Responsibilities:
• Design, build and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, statistical analysis and prediction, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support the needs of the business.
• Be hands-on with ETL to build data pipeline to support automated reporting.
• Write high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. SQL)
• Build various data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through graphic-rich customizable plots, data maps, and other rich visualizations.
• Serve as liaison between the business and technical teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
• Assists with and provides recommendations regarding tradeoffs between data granularity, calculations, and rendering of BIE products especially dashboards and other data visualizations
• Apply deep analytic and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights and learning from large and complicated data sets using the appropriate statistical forecasting model.
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
BIE usually has three components to it: Data Visualizing, Data Science, and Data Engineering. For this team the biggest components are Data Engineering and Visualizing. Contractor will be building out data pipelines and data bases that allow them to get access to a lot of the SIM tickets that get cut to DSS and then build visualization on top on that to see resolution times, how many tickets have been resolved , and where the tickets are coming from.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Python
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related experience.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in data engineering, business analytics, business intelligence (BI), or comparable experience in big data environments.
• 3+ years of experience in data mining and data-set preparation using SQL.
• 3+ years of experience with Quicksight, Tableau or other relevant data visualization software.
• Demonstrable ability in data modeling and ETL development
• Proven experience with SQL to retrieve and analyze large data sets from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle)
• Be self-driven, details-oriented, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data.
