Our client is currently looking to hire an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to join the team and play a critical role in supporting design, facility, and Engineering activities. This role will be virtual. This role will report to the Worldwide MEP Design Manager.

DayToDay Responsbilities:

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Maintain and manage the Fire Protection design standards
  • Work with diverse stakeholders to implement, manage, and develop the Worldwide Building Automation System. This role will be considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regards to Fire Protection Design.
  • Implement strategies and processes to drive ongoing system commissioning in order to reduce Client’s construction, building operational and maintenance costs.
  • Manage key vendor’s relationships and service providers related to program and template work. Works closely with vendors to ensure SLA’s are adhered to, annual spend is closely monitored, and contracts are renegotiated and renewed in a timely manner. Ensure that contracted resources deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and ensuring the correction of under-performance issues
  • Manage blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and meet committed delivery timelines
  • Document and present strategies and periodic updates to internal and external audiences
  • Develop and implement consistent and repeatable processes for new implementations
  • Participate in business re-engineering activities to support acceptance, implementation and increase effectiveness for the WWRE teams. This includes working with several project teams across the globe.
  • Make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams
  • Create specification documents, drive project schedules from design to release, and manage the production launch

Must Have:

  • Needs to be a fire protection engineer by background (not mechanical or electrical), he does not want PMs.
  • Looking for someone who has done design work and is an engineer.
  • Some soft skills he is looking for include strong writing culture, good with conflict and conflict resolution, and well spoken – needs to be able to clearly articulate their arguments without going into too much detail (direct and to the point).
  • Key leadership principles: earns trust, dives deep, and backbone to commit.
  • Some technologies they need to know: familiarity with CFT modeling and performance based designs.
  • HM is not looking for someone who is a “code expert” – he needs someone who is able to think about the problem and try to solve it from as much as a business perspective as an engineering perspective.
  • This will be an L4/L5 position.
  • Minimum requirement would be 3 years of industry experience.
  • Maximum would be 15 years.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering (or a related field)
