Title - Civil Engineer

Duration - 12 Months (Possible extension / conversion)

Location - Jackson, MI - 49201

About the Role:

  • The Civil Engineer will be part of the Project Engineering team and will primarily support capital upgrade projects for the Metering, Regulation and Controls department.
  • This role will involve identifying and scoping the civil engineering design and construction scope for projects, contracting engineering services, providing engineering review and technical leadership, assisting the Project Manager in contracting construction services, and completing closeout activities.
  • The Civil Engineer will also be responsible for providing regular project updates to their supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and scope the civil engineering design and construction scope necessary for project completion
  • Contract engineering services required for the project
  • Provide engineering review and technical leadership
  • Assist the Project Manager in contracting construction services
  • Complete closeout activities, such as record drawings and test records
  • Provide regular project updates to supervisor, including status and risks to scope, quality, cost, and schedule
  • Tolerate a heavy industrial environment, including loud, hot, and oily locations
  • Climb stairs and/or fixed ladders, enter/crawl into small/tight spaces, and walk on rough construction grade as required

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge in civil design, including site design, stormwater management, pre-engineered metal building design, foundation design, storage tank design, and environmental permitting
  • Experience coordinating and developing contract documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with Civil/Structural codes, such as IBC/MBC, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, and ASCE 7
