Senior Technical Application and Network Engineer

Pay Range: $60-$65

This job role is for a Senior Technical Application and Network Engineer, which is a hybrid role combining Production Support, System Administration, and Application Engineering responsibilities. The position involves supporting an internal employee-facing application at L3 support level, meaning it handles escalated technical issues that require deep expertise.

Key Aspects of the Role:

1. System Administration & Production Support (Linux/Unix)

   • Act as a Linux System Administrator (Red Hat OS).
   • Manage user accounts, file permissions, and security settings.
   • Install, configure, and maintain Linux system components.
   • Monitor systems using Splunk and handle logging & event management.
   • Work with SSH, sudo commands, and system security.

2. Network & Application Support

   • Handle Apache Tomcat web/application server management.
   • Provide technical guidance to developers (but not write code in development).
   • Troubleshoot Java/JavaScript-based application issues.
   • Work with Oracle/Teradata SQL databases for query optimization & troubleshooting.

3. Scripting & Automation

   • Write Shell scripts for automation.
   • Use command-line tools (vi editor, SED, and job scheduling tools like Autosys/CA7).

4. Other Requirements

   • Experience with root-level permissions and Power Broker concepts.
   • Strong knowledge of Linux file systems and directories like /bin, /etc, /home, /var.
   • Ability to plan system upgrades (hardware/software).
