Job Title: Substation Engineer
Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire with possible extension/conversion
Location: Fort Worth, TX 
Function: Hybrid; 3 days/week onsite
Pay Rate: $60 to $70/hr

DayToDay Responsbilities:

This role serves as a primary point of contact for external customers seeking grid interconnection. Responsibilities encompass the full project lifecycle, from initial consultation to final construction. Specifically, the role involves:

  • Engaging directly with customers to understand their interconnection requirements, clearly communicate project expectations, and provide ongoing guidance throughout the process.
  • Translating customer needs into detailed project scopes and drafting comprehensive contract documents, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Dedicating a significant portion (approximately 70%) of time to project scoping, including iterative discussions with customers, analysis of technical feasibility, and meticulous refinement of project parameters to address evolving needs and constraints. This includes the ability to efficiently handle scope modifications.
  • Providing clear and concise explanations of complex technical concepts and design considerations to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and ensuring customer comprehension of project deliverables.
  • Following the project through to the construction phase, ensuring that the contractual agreements are being followed, and that the customer is satisfied.

 

Must Haves:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for electrical design and drafting.
  • Experienced in relay launching and coordination.
  • Knowledgeable of circuit breaker interrupting capacity and mitigation of overcurrent conditions.
  • Skilled in power flow analysis and load flow calculations.
  • Proficient in fault current calculations for electrical systems
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing project execution.
  • Prior experience within the utility industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 

 

Plusses:

  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical findings at industry conferences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
