Job Description:
We are seeking a Business Analyst/Product Owner with a strong background in commercial claims processing and data within the insurance sector. This role is part of a portfolio-driven team working on initiatives related to claims transformation, finance, and reinsurance. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams, underwriting operations, and claims modernization initiatives to support ongoing projects.
- This candidate works closely with claims teams in a technical business analyst capacity, though their role is less focused on system implementation and more centered around supporting claims operations.
- Their strongest alignment is with claims domain knowledge—they’ve consistently functioned as a Claims BA and are deeply familiar with claims processes.
- For the final interview the focus will be entirely on claims-related questions rather than technology.
- Candidate must be able to engage in business-level discussions with AVPs and senior stakeholders.
- High technical aptitude alone is not sufficient; the candidate must demonstrate strong business logic and situational awareness.
- Understanding the underlying technology is important, but the primary need is the ability to translate that into business value.
- The team operates in a POD structure — looking for someone who can identify and act on incremental opportunities to improve the IT product.
- A background in claims is essential Experience with workflows, backlog creation, user stories, and end-to-end claims processes (e.g., FNOL, adjustment) is important.
- Target profile: 60% technical, 40% business-facing.
- Must have the ability to identify the root cause of business issues and translate them into actionable technology initiatives.
- Act as a functional BA/ Product Owner for claims transformation projects, documenting requirements and working with stakeholders.
- Develop BA/ Product Owner requirement documents and work within an Agile environment to drive initiatives forward.
- Collaborate with technical teams and support claims processing initiatives
- Engage with claim operations and finance-related projects within the portfolio.
- Support modernization initiatives
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst/ Product Owner in the insurance industry, with a strong focus on claims processing.
- Background should be working for an insurance company on the business side owner Commercial P&C insurance products
- 7+ years of experience working in Insurance, Specifically P&C Insurance for Commercial clients
- An Insurance native that has previous experience working with claims products on the business side
- Understand concepts such as FNOL, Reserving
- Claims lifecycle: business process and workflows
- Ability to work in an Agile environment and collaborate with technical teams.

Experience working on portfolio-driven initiatives involving data, claims, and finance.
-Experience with Guidewire and its role in commercial claims processing.
