Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead the modernization of existing iSeries applications by leveraging modern technologies and architectural patterns.
• Integrate iSeries systems with web services (REST/SOAP), APIs, and other external systems.
• Implement and maintain data exchange processes between iSeries and other platforms (e.g., cloud, distributed systems).
• Utilize tools and frameworks for web enablement of iSeries applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain complex iSeries applications using RPG IV/ILE, CL, and DB2/400.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.

Technical Skills:

• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in iSeries (AS/400) development.
• Expert-level proficiency in RPG IV/ILE, CL, and DB2/400.
• Strong understanding of modern development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
• Experience with web services (REST/SOAP), APIs, and integration technologies.
• Knowledge of SQL and database optimization techniques.
• Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with web frameworks such as node.js or python is a plus
• Experience in application development on the I platform (formerly known as iSeries/AS400) and managing/maintaining with other applications that may reside on-prem or the cloud. (RPG/COBOL, CL, SQL)
• Conversant in many technologies and languages, able to learn new technologies quickly
• Proactively applies industry leading technology trends, best practices, design principles and patterns, and methods including Agile software development, iterative delivery, and cloud computing using the I platform.
• Uses critical thinking to reach conclusions and analytical thinking for problem solving in support of achieving desired outcomes.
• Applies enthusiasm for continuous learning to improve results and shares with others.
• Understanding of I DB2 and best performance practices within application development

Payrate:

$60 to $70
