About the Role

  • We are seeking a Service Designer 2 to join our team in enhancing and mapping complex healthcare service ecosystems.
  • This role spans digital, physical, and human touchpoints, focusing on customer journeys, service blueprints, and backstage operations.
  • The ideal candidate will bring a strong portfolio of service design artifacts (not UI/UX wireframes) and a track record of designing end-to-end service experiences within complex domains such as healthcare.

Responsibilities:

  • Map and improve healthcare service ecosystems including customer journeys, service blueprints, and backstage operations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless service experiences across various touchpoints

  • Conduct onsite contextual research in hospitals, clinics, and home environments to inform design

  • Use Figma to create visual artifacts such as service blueprints, journey maps, and conceptual frameworks

  • Work within agile squads to develop end-to-end service experiences for customer-facing healthcare offerings

  • Contribute to focus areas such as Women’s Health (Postpartum and Maternity), Personalized Medicine (e.g., Headache Care), and First Contact Navigation

  • Travel as required to BSWH service areas (Central TX – Austin/Temple, North TX – DFW)

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Service Design, Design Strategy, or a related discipline

Required Skills:

  • 3–5 years of professional service design experience

  • Proficiency in systems thinking and cross-functional team collaboration

  • Strong Figma skills for service mapping and storytelling

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering high-quality outcomes

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to share insights and strategies

  • Capable of working independently in ambiguous and evolving environments

  • Organized with strong attention to both design details and system-wide impact

  • Healthcare service design experience is a strong plus

Soft Skills Needed:

  • Passionate about reimagining healthcare through a systems-thinking lens

  • Empathy-driven, with a focus on improving experiences for patients, providers, and care staff

  • Skilled communicator who can clearly convey insights and design recommendations

  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to build alignment across diverse teams

  • Self-motivated and open to feedback in an iterative design process

  • Enjoys contributing to and shaping a growing service design practice

Pay Range: $34 - #39 an hr.
