Position Details: 

Job Title: Trust Accounting Analyst 

Location: Dartmouth, NS (Hybrid - 3 day onsite) 

Duration: 9 months (Contract to Hire) 

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm (possibility to shift to 7:00am–3:30pm once trained) 

Shift/Core Hours: 37.5 

Start Date: ASAP 

  

Job description:  

  • Ensure daily and accurate reconciliation of Oracle General Ledger and bank accounts 
  • Balance Accounts Receivable and Payable to the Trust General Ledger 
  • Produce accurate daily cash forecasting and variance reporting to Corporate Treasury 
  • Complete and confirm daily account and wire transfers 
  • Provide trust fund reporting across business units (Canada, US, UK) 
  • Ensure compliance with SOC1, SOX, and operational controls 
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities 
  • Support special projects, audits, and internal control efforts 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform daily account reconciliations and document exceptions 
  • Analyze and report on short-term cash flow forecasts (not heavy accounting, more finance ops focus) 
  • Handle wire/account transfers based on daily projections 
  • Prepare reports for management, treasury, and corporate teams 
  • Work heavily in Excel and Oracle Financials (though most work will be in ADP's custom system) 
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Canada, US, and UK 
  • Support testing, documentation, and special projects 

 

Must Haves: 

  • Post-secondary education in Finance/Accounting 
  • 1+ years of accounting/reconciliation/internal control experience 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, lookups, formatting) 
  • Detail-oriented, curious, organized, and can meet tight deadlines 
  • Able to work independently and take initiative 

  

Plusses: 

  • Enrolled in CPA program or equivalent designation (understanding of SOC1/SOX) 
  • Experience in trust, segregated funds, or fund accounting 
  • Familiarity with Oracle Financials or other ERP systems 
  • Previous exposure to Corporate or Internal Audit 
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience
