Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location:  Duluth, GA 30096 - Hybrid Role (Monday-Friday)
Duration:12 Months - (Extension/Conversion will be based on performance)
Pay Rate: $29.00-30.00/hr 
 
Must have:
  • Pay frequencies include weekly, bi-weekly, semimonthly, monthly, and special incentive payrolls assigned to multiple companies and in multiple states/provinces.
  • Process accurate and timely payrolls for all employees.
  • Process all payroll transactions and prepare file loads for hourly and salaried payrolls.
  • Key direct deposit, tax, and deductions into the system for processing.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and provincial tax laws.
  • Resolves customer service issues and problems utilizing their individual expertise in payroll policies and laws.
  • Responds to questions from employees and resolves discrepancies.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for US payroll-related issues.
  • Maintains payroll records and databases.
  • Follows all defined payroll SOX controls as defined in the payroll narrative.
  • Provides analysis or works on projects assigned by their manager.
  • Maintains time and attendance systems to ensure accurate data for payroll processing and reporting.
  • Completes daily and weekly time analysis on each location.
  • Analyze/research each variance to ensure that all hours are accurate.
  • Works with the location to update/change time accordingly.
  • Updates and maintains employee information.
  • Pulls payroll times files and loads/submits them into PeopleSoft.
  • Adheres to departmental and organizational schedules and deadlines for payroll
  • Completes yearly uploads. Ex: vacation balances for each location.
  • Compares gross wages in Peoplesoft to Workbrain or Kronos and completes functions in Excel to come up with a  yearly vacation hourly rate.
  • Review for any discrepancies.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures, contracts, and state and federal laws
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred from an accredited university.
  • FPC, CPP, or equivalent certification and/or experience, preferred
  • 3-5 years of full-cycle payroll administration work experience which includes multiple provinces.
  • Systems experience with various timekeeping and payroll software packages (PS & Kronos today - Workforce Solutions - future)
  • Knowledge of payroll practices and HRIS system, including PeopleSoft
  • Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll processing is required
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under time constraints to meet critical deadlines
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Good technical aptitude to learn new software systems with ease
  • Knowledge and expertise of Excel functionality (formulas, linked spreadsheets, pivot tables, formatting reports in Excel, charts & graphs, etc.).
  • Proficiency with payroll and timekeeping systems
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll data and the ability to query and report on payroll data
  • Ability to create training material and effectively deliver training
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a team-oriented environment with an emphasis on total customer satisfaction.
