Occupational Health Nurse

Responsibilities:
- Perform clinic functions within the RN scope of practice.
- Oversee clinic operations, ensuring adequate inventory levels of medicines, supplies, and equipment.
- Conduct office duties including appointment scheduling, communications, and clinic record keeping.
- Manage worker’s compensation and disability case management.
- Provide immediate care and assistance for occupational accidents/injuries.
- Communicate accident/injury reports to Management, Safety, and HR promptly.
- Collaborate with third-party administrators managing work-related injuries.
- Support risk reduction for employees with work-related musculoskeletal symptoms.
- Assist the Medical Director/Physician Assistant as needed.
- Conduct initial assessments of employee injuries and ensure proper referrals.
- Respond to plant-wide emergencies and perform first responder duties.
- Conduct new hire drug testing and DOT pre-employment/random drug testing.
- Assist with travel consultations and administer immunizations under MD direction.
- Conduct basic ergonomic assessments and provide results/referrals to Safety.
- Assist Safety in managing the Respiratory/Hearing Conservation Program.
- Provide health education and referrals to employees as needed.
- Maintain employee health records in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and company protocols.
- Update and ensure compliance with medical department policies and procedures.
- Provide case management and medical records support to other regional sites.
- Manage proper disposal of medical biohazard waste.
- Support the DOT program by assisting in the recovery of requested employee documentation.
- Collect effective metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Learn, implement, and support new electronic medical record systems.
Education Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Must have an active in-state Registered Nurse license.
- Must have a current American Heart Association Health Professional CPR card.
Required Skills:
- At least 2 years of nursing experience or Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN) certificate with at least 4 years of nursing experience.
- Knowledge and experience in occupational health practices.
- Ability to apply company policies and procedures to resolve issues.
- Strong decision-making skills and judgment within defined practices.
- Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships.
- Ability to work under limited supervision with general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects.
