About the Role:
The Engineering Technician will play a crucial role in coordinating project engineering and design, conducting product and process research, and providing field technical support for utility systems. This position involves gathering and tracking standards and manual feedback, as well as working on special projects as assigned. The role also supports department processes and change management, frequently coordinating with other internal departments on assigned tasks and projects.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
  • Create purchase requisitions.
  • Track engineering services invoices and provide forecasting.
  • Engage in on-the-job learning and development through learning modules, standard reviews, and mentorship from senior engineers.
  • Conduct field visits and collaborate with field operations as needed.
  • Provide engineering support and consultation, including design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, schedules, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation.
  • Understand, follow, and create new department standards and procedures. Become familiar with plans, specifications, maps, and related materials for each project and utilize the information appropriately.
  • Support and administer the maintenance of configured infrastructure to meet current utility needs, including implementing levels, specialized components, and custom reports.
  • Meet with third-party supporting firms and general contractor representatives to provide standards and collect feedback regularly to ensure up-to-date understanding and compliance.
  • Read and interpret utility industry standards, drawings, and device specification/data sheets and apply them to a working environment.
Education Qualification:
  •  Associate Degree in Technical or Engineering.
 
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • knowledge of MS Windows Applications.
  • Basic knowledge of utility operations.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and take new perspectives using existing computer-based solutions.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
