Mission: To design and deliver high-quality, reliable utility structures that meet customer needs, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support Nucor’s commitment to innovation, teamwork, and excellence in engineering.
Day to day:
- Review utility customer drawing packages and specifications.
- Design and analyze tubular steel utility structures (transmission, distribution, substation) per codes, standards, and requirements.
- Provide design estimates and final checks
- Use 3D modeling software and proprietary tools for pole/component designs.
- Support and collaborate with sales, detailing, project management, and production teams.
- Coordinate projects with internal and external customers.
- Mentor and guide less experienced teammates.
- Travel occasionally to Nucor plants, utility offices, field locations, or trade shows.
Must haves:
- Professional Engineer (PE) or structural engineer (SE) License
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering or mechanical engineering
- 3+ years of experience
Plusses:
- Transmission and distribution systems industry experience
- Utility structures design
- PLS- Pole software Knowledge
