Job Description:
About the Role:
This remote position involves mechanical design work for gas transmission and distribution facilities, with occasional field visits and on-site meetings in Jackson, Michigan. The Design Technician II will focus on creating efficient and high-quality designs for gas facility reliability, relocation, and capacity projects, working closely with engineers.
Responsibilities

Design gas distribution systems for customer relocation, capacity, or reliability improvement projects.

Utilize CAD software, specifically Bentley OpenPlant or MicroStation, for design work.

Track project progress using spreadsheets and/or databases.

Create projects/orders and manage material procurement in SAP.

Collect field notes outdoors, sometimes in remote or difficult-to-access locations.
Education Qualification:
-
An associate degree in a relevant scientific or technical field is preferred. Significant relevant design experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
Required Skills

Advanced computer and application knowledge.

Strong communication skills for clear and precise design documentation.

Experience with drafting software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Ability to produce safe, ergonomic, and practical designs.
