Must-Haves:
Excel experience (comparison, pivots) – heavy analysis
The candidate must be strong in Excel, especially in:
  • Data comparisons (e.g., matching or reconciling numbers across large sets)
  • Pivot tables for summarizing and analyzing complex datasets
  • This suggests a lot of data analysis, not just simple spreadsheet tasks.
Relational database experience (compare and access, hyparian)
The candidate should have experience using databases that store data in tables with relationships, such as:
  • MS Access
  • Possibly Hyparion (likely a typo or phonetic for Hyperion, a financial management tool)
  • They do not need to know SQL, but should understand how to navigate or compare structured data between sources.
Sales and use tax laws and regulations knowledge
Must understand how sales and use tax applies to different types of leases or financing agreements
  • When a certain transaction is taxable
  • What rate applies
  • Which conditions trigger taxability
This is not a sales tax compliance role:
  • No filing of returns
  • No interaction with tax authorities
  • It's about analyzing and applying tax rules correctly in financial models or lease agreements
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with regulations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions for the financial operations.
  • Analyze financial statements and accounting records to determine taxable income and identify opportunities for tax savings or risk mitigation.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions (ASC 740), including deferred tax calculations and reconciliation of tax accounts.
  • Support tax audits and respond to inquiries from the IRS or state tax authorities, compiling documentation and addressing discrepancies.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and financial regulations, assessing the impact on the organization and implementing necessary compliance changes.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and external auditors to align tax strategies with business goals and ensure accuracy in reporting and disclosures
