About the Role -
- The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with surgical procedures and equipment management.
- This position supports Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists during radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, prepares rooms and equipment, and is responsible for patient transport and monitoring.
- Handling medications may also be part of the role, in accordance with assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities -
- Assist physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, pacemaker implantations, and various diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields for lab procedures.
- Print films and calculate stenosis for peripheral cases.
- Circulate in procedure rooms and collect data on appropriate forms.
- Monitor patient ECG and vital signs in the Catheterization Lab, notify physicians of any variances, and provide emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation as needed.
- Perform pre-and post-procedure care and orient patients for special procedures.
- Answer patient questions to ensure comfort and transport patients to and from procedural areas.
- Communicate relevant medical information to physicians and staff through required documentation.
- Record, enter, and calculate catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
- Follow national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies for procedure rooms, ensuring they are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
Education Qualification -
- Completion of a relevant technical or associate degree program in cardiovascular technology or a related field is preferred.
Certification/Degree Requirements: ARRT, MRT, BLS, ACLS
Required Skills -
- One year of clinical experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in using basic office equipment and computer literacy is required.
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate self-lead problem-solving skills. Precision and flexibility in performing tasks.
- Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques.
- Understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
