Role Overview
 
  • The Senior Manager, Sourcing, Global Procurement is a pivotal role within Global Procurement team, focusing on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and high-value contract negotiations.
  • This role will collaborate closely with the Director and Manager of Sourcing Execution to influence sourcing decisions, drive supplier consolidation, and achieve significant cost savings and avoidance.
  • The successful candidate will develop and negotiate complex, high-risk contract strategies that deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions, enhancing the total value generated from supplier base.
  • This 1-year contract position offers the opportunity to work with a prestigious brand in Toronto’s financial hub, with a strong possibility of extension based on business needs.
  • The role demands exceptional business acumen, negotiation expertise, and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders to deliver measurable financial outcomes.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management:
    • Partner with senior management to develop negotiation and contract strategies for high-risk, high-value, and strategically critical sourcing initiatives.
    • Drive supplier consolidation efforts to optimize supplier base, ensuring cost efficiency and long-term value.
    • Lead complex deals with a total contract value of $3 million or more, achieving individual cost savings targets of $5 million and contributing to team targets of $25 million annually.
  • Data Analysis and Strategy Development:
    • Gather and analyze data to create playbooks and strategies tailored to various business models for services under contract or in consideration.
    • Prepare detailed findings and present actionable insights to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Contract Negotiation and Management:
    • Develop and negotiate complex contract strategies that align with goals for cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
    • Ensure compliance with procurement laws and regulations, optimizing contract terms to mitigate risks and enhance value.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including C-level executives, Legal Counsel, risk, compliance, and business units.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, influencing sourcing decisions and fostering a service-oriented approach to partnership building.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively within a dynamic, global team of 160 professionals, contributing to a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Mentor junior staff, sharing expertise in procurement best practices and contract management.
Daily Responsibilities
A typical day involves:
  • Collaborating with the Director and Manager of Sourcing Execution to align on sourcing priorities and strategies.
  • Analyzing market data and supplier performance to inform negotiation strategies and contract playbooks.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to review high-risk or high-value sourcing initiatives and present recommendations.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance with company standards.
  • Preparing executive-level reports and presentations to communicate cost savings, avoidance, and strategic outcomes.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sourcing initiatives.
Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • 7–10 years of experience in global procurement, sourcing, and supplier relationship management.
    • Proven track record in leading complex deals with a total contract value of $3 million or more.
    • Experience achieving significant financial targets, including individual savings of $5 million and team targets of $25 million.
    • Strong background in stakeholder engagement, influencing senior management, and building cross-functional partnerships.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional negotiation and contract acumen, with expertise in drafting and optimizing complex agreements.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable strategies.
    • Advanced proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for contract creation, pricing analyses, RFx evaluations, and executive presentations.
    • In-depth understanding of procurement laws and regulations.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
    • Service-oriented mindset with a focus on building strong, collaborative partnerships.
    • Strong supplier management skills, with a focus on driving value and mitigating risks.
  • Education:
    • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Purchasing, or a related field, or a recognized Procurement Designation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong written communication, capable of interpreting and drafting complex documents.
    • Proactive, team-oriented approach, with the ability to manage varying workloads and multitask effectively.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Ivalua procurement software.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Team player with a willingness to adapt to dynamic workloads and contribute to team success.
