Database Architect

Day To Day Responsbilities:

Lead design, migration, and management of Oracle Exadata Cloud @ Customer (ExaCC) infrastructure.

Administer Linux (RHEL 7/8) systems, clusters, storage, file systems, and VMs.
-
Automate provisioning, patching, and scaling tasks with Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
-
Ensure high availability through backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
-
Troubleshoot performance and system issues (DB, Linux, and network layers).
-
Utilize OCI cloud interface for provisioning, access control, and cost monitoring.
-
Collaborate with Oracle Database team (10 DBAs) and Exadata Admins (3) on migrations and operations.
-
Work closely with leadership to communicate risks, progress, and performance insights.

Establish and manage FinOps practices to optimize infrastructure spend.
-
Mentor junior DBAs and set best practices for Exadata administration.
Must Haves:
-
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years overall IT experience with strong Oracle DBA/architecture background.
-
2+ years of experience working in an Agile environment (collaborating with developers, QA, Scrum Masters, Product Owners).

5 + years Hands-on Exadata + ExaCC (Cloud @ Customer) expertise (not just exposure).

Experience with Exadata migrations, installations, and sustainable operations.

Strong Linux (RHEL 7/8) administration.
-
Scripting/automation with Python, Terraform, and Ansible.

Experience managing clusters, storage, file systems, and VMs.
-
Solid understanding of OCI cloud interface and cloud infrastructure concepts.

Networking and storage knowledge as it relates to Exadata performance.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Salary and Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $55 - $60 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
