Job Title:  Mainframe Developer SAS/COBOL (DB2 Expertise)

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced mainframe developer with deep expertise in COBOL, SAS, and DB2 to support and enhance mission-critical legacy systems. This role involves maintaining high-performance applications, modernizing legacy codebases, and ensuring seamless data integration across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mainframe Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain applications using COBOL and SAS in a z/OS environment.
• Write and optimize JCL for batch processing and job scheduling.
• Develop and maintain DB2 data structures, SQL queries, and data access logic.
• System Maintenance & Optimization:
• Analyze and resolve production issues, including abends and performance bottlenecks.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Tune DB2 queries and programs for optimal performance.
• Integration & Modernization:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate legacy systems with modern applications and APIs.
• Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and re-platforming initiatives.
• Support efforts to expose mainframe functionality via interfaces with server-based systems. 
• Documentation & Compliance:
• Maintain detailed technical documentation for programs, processes, and data flows.
• Ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in COBOL and SAS programming.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with DB2 in a mainframe environment.
• Strong knowledge of:
• JCL, utilities, REX
• DB2 utilities (e.g., LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG)
• SQL performance tuning and optimization
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in financial services and Identity and Access Management. 
• Familiarity with NDM, FTP, and batch file processing.
• Knowledge of Agile or hybrid SDLC methodologies.
• Experience with debugging tools (e.g., Xpediter, Abend-AID) and source control (e.g., ISPW).
• Knowledge of:
• CICS
• VSAM
• ISPF Panels
• Easytrieve
• API’s

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Certifications in DB2 or mainframe technologies are a plus
