Position Title: Facility & Operation Specialist (In Laboratory Building)
Domain: Research & Education
Location: Palo Alto, CA 94304 - Onsite Role
Duration: 06 months (Extension & Conversion will be based on the performance)
Schedule: 5 day in office, Morning/Regular 8 AM - 5 PM or 9 AM – 6 PM
Pay Range: ($34-$35) hourly
 
Note - Looking for a person who has worked in operations or facilities in a lab, not a lab coordinator.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Facility Operations & Maintenance: Serve as the point of contact for building and lab operations; initiate work requests; coordinate preventive and routine maintenance; troubleshoot equipment and facility issues; optimize utility usage; manage third-party vendors.
  • Property & Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment, property, and space; track inventory; support purchase orders and receiving; assist with space allocation decisions.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure lab safety compliance, track chemical inventory and hazardous waste disposal, conduct safety training and employee orientation, and participate in emergency preparedness and recovery planning.
  • Security Management: Manage access to facilities, keys, alarms, and security systems; monitor access records; assess and recommend security improvements.
  • Project Coordination: Assist in planning and executing small projects; manage scheduling, budgeting, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Space Planning & Utilization: Coordinate moves, track space allocation, optimize space utilization, and support facility renewal and capital plans.
Skills:
  • Experience in facility management, operations coordination, or maintenance in laboratory or commercial settings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, hazardous material handling, and regulatory compliance in lab environments.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate vendors, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong administrative and record-keeping abilities.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in cGMP or biotech laboratory settings.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment, utilities management, and space planning software.
