Why the Role is Open
This is a 12-month maternity leave coverage starting in December, with a short overlap for transition. The role supports the Data Governance and Data Quality function under Sherif Khalifa, focused on maintaining consistent governance standards and ensuring data quality across key vendor datasets (e.g., Bloomberg).

High-Level Focus Areas
The Lead will oversee two main areas:
  1. Data Governance Leadership:
    • Ensure consistent implementation of data governance standards across multiple lines of business.
    • Partner with business and technology teams to maintain trust, accuracy, and compliance across data products.
    • Deliver clear, consistent messaging on governance principles and quality expectations.
  2. Analysis and Reporting:
    • Perform daily reporting and analysis of incident trends to identify areas for improvement.
    • Leverage dashboards and visualization tools (Tableau, QuickSight) to communicate key insights and metrics.
    • Ensure proactive detection and resolution of data quality issues, particularly within vendor datasets.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this role, the Lead will manage the design and oversight of data products within CPP Investments’ federated data mesh, focusing primarily on vendor data (e.g., Bloomberg and related sources). They’ll ensure governance standards are applied consistently, monitor data quality and lineage, and maintain metadata accuracy across platforms. The Lead will collaborate closely with business units, data stewards, and technical teams to align governance practices, while also driving improvements based on incident and quality trend analysis. The role requires fluency in visualization and reporting (QuickSight, Tableau) and an ability to operate as a plug-and-play contributor with minimal training runway.

Must-Haves
  • 8–10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Management.
  • Proven ability to lead governance initiatives across complex business environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with reporting dashboards (QuickSight, Tableau).
  • Experience in analyzing incident trends and implementing process improvements.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AWS Glue, metadata management, and data cataloging.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business teams.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in a high-performance, hybrid work environment.

Nice-to-Haves / Preferences
  • Background in financial services or investment management (e.g., CPP, PSP, OMERS, investment banks).
  • Experience working with market data vendors (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, S&P, etc.).
  • Exposure to data mesh, data product ownership, and data quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data architecture, data modeling, or data stewardship.
