We are hiring Field Commissioning Technician

Location: Austin, TX 78725 (Onsite, 5 dayz/week)
Engagement Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire
Openings: 4
Per Diem: $90/day (for candidates 50+ miles outside of Austin, TX)
Interview Process: One-and-Done Panel (30–45 minutes)

Pay Range - $40-45/hr 

About the Role:

Collabera is seeking skilled Field Commissioning Technicians to support the automation systems driving large-scale vehicle production. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on commissioning, calibration, and optimization of critical instrumentation and control equipment across core utility systems.

You will work directly with Controls Engineers and HMI Developers to support commissioning, loop checks, I/O testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring seamless integration and performance of field devices and control systems. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accuracy, reliability, and uptime across production and data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform commissioning, calibration, and loop checks on transmitters, valves, meters, and sensors.
  • Conduct I/O testing and verify field instrumentation against P&ID drawings and control logic.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation, wiring, and PLC-based control systems.
  • Validate that field devices are functioning properly and aligned with system documentation.
  • Support system testing, startup, and optimization across industrial utility systems (HVAC, chilled water, compressed air).
  • Ensure VFD connections, labeling accuracy, and alignment with project control drawings.

Must-Have Experience:

  • 4–5+ years as a Commissioning or Field Instrumentation Technician.
  • 4–5+ years calibrating transmitters, flow meters, valves, and sensors.
  • 4–5+ years interpreting P&ID drawings and performing loop checks.
  • 4–5+ years testing control systems (I/O loop checks, verifying sensors, controllers, and actuators).
  • 4–5+ years troubleshooting industrial control systems (transmitters, wiring, PLCs).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Beckhoff PLCs.
  • Background in industrial utilities (HVAC, chilled water, compressed air).
  • Familiarity with VFDs, labeling, and control documentation.
  • Knowledge of NEC and ISA standards.
  • SCADA (Ignition) experience highly preferred.
