About the Role:

  • We are seeking an experienced Reconciliation Specialist to support a reconciliation cleanup project within the Corporate Support unit.
  • This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong accounting knowledge and proven expertise in preparing and analyzing financial reconciliations.
  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in investigating and resolving mismatches arising from a recently adopted accounting standard and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations monthly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard accounting principles.

  • Identify and investigate mismatches within reconciliations — determine the root cause (why, what, and how) and implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct reconciliation cleanup to align data with new accounting standards.

  • Prepare, review, and validate up to 30 different types of reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

  • Execute journal entries as part of reconciliation and reporting processes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve variances and maintain high-quality financial reporting.

  • Ensure timely preparation of reconciliations and attestations as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Provide input to improve reconciliation processes and identify opportunities for automation or efficiency gains.

  • Support ad-hoc requests and assist in financial control activities as required.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in preparing financial reconciliations.

  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting principles.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and the MS Office Suite.

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA, CA, or CFA preferred).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in insurance finance or financial services.

  • Knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization tools.

  • Familiarity with insurance accounting standards and operations.
