Position: AWS Platform Engineer

Type: 6 months contract to hire
Location: Charlotte, NC / Pittsburgh, PA (3x hybrid)
Interview Process: 1st round 30 minute panel -> 2nd round in-person with CFO and team

Day to day:

• Build, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform, and related DevOps tools
• Deploy and manage containerized applications in Kubernetes (EKS)
• Create templates, manage pipelines, and continuously optimize for scalability and performance
• Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting in Datadog (dashboards, metrics, performance reporting)
• Automate repetitive tasks using Python and scripting languages
• Support and troubleshoot application deployments built in Node.js, Java, and GoLang (no direct coding required)
• Perform infrastructure security tasks (security checks, IAM, encryption, compliance automation)
• Administer and optimize PostgreSQL, Redshift, and general AWS resources
• Collaborate across teams to manage approximately half of the 50+ active platforms
• Work independently, handle multiple priorities, and adapt quickly to changing environments

Must haves:

• 6–10 years of Platform / DevOps Engineering experience
• Strong expertise in AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
• Proven experience with GitHub Actions or equivalent CI/CD tools
• Monitoring and performance tuning using Datadog and CloudWatch
• Proficiency with Python scripting (automation, optimization, and debugging)
• Solid understanding of networking, load balancing, and security best practices
• Experience managing multi-environment infrastructure and deployment pipelines
• Supporting application deployments built in Node.js, Java, and GoLang
• Deploying and managing Kubernetes (EKS) clusters

• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid environments
• Familiarity with security reporting and compliance automation
• Prior exposure to PostgreSQL, Redshift, or AWS database services
• Cost optimization, scalability design, and performance engineering background
• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator)

Salary and Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $55 - $60 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
