About the Role
- This is a remote position requiring residence in one of fifteen preferred states.
- The role operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The position specifically seeks candidates with facility inpatient coding experience.
- The role requires dual monitors and a docking station.
Responsibilities
- Perform chart reviews and provide physician education while maintaining comprehensive knowledge of coding rules and regulations.
- Offer coding expertise and administrative oversight to ensure successful integration of company initiatives.
- Conduct ongoing chart reviews and abstract diagnosis codes.
- Understand current billing practices in provider offices to ensure accurate submission of diagnosis and CPT codes.
- Coordinate with Clinical Informatics to address system errors and suggest process improvements.
- Document results from chart reviews and provide feedback to management, providers, and office staff.
- Create educational materials and newsletters to assist providers in accurate coding practices.
- Train and educate providers on risk adjustment knowledge and coding updates related to Risk Adjustment.
- Monitor provider progress to ensure compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) guidelines.
- Build positive relationships with providers by offering coding assistance as needed.
- Handle administrative duties such as planning, scheduling chart reviews, obtaining medical records, and provider training.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects like risk adjustment application implementation and report development.
- Assist in coordinating management activities with other departments, including Finance, Revenue Analytics, Claims and Encounters, and Medical Directors.
- Support CMS Data Validation activities, including record selection, tracking, and submission.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Qualification
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills
- More than 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- More than 2 years of experience in coding and medical record chart review.
- Proficiency with MS Excel.
- Active and unrestricted Coding Certification (CIC, CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA).
