Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL/Denver, CO

Duration: 12 -18 months Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Day-to-Day:
- Build and maintain near-real-time and batch data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Kafka.
- Ingest and process data from APIs, message queues, databases, and file systems (JSON, CSV, XML).
- Optimize Python code and SQL queries for high performance.
- Work with distributed data systems (Hadoop, Spark, Hive) for storage and processing.
- Manage deployments and CI/CD using Git, Jenkins, and Agile practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues in a Linux environment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality data solutions.
Must Haves:
- Strong SQL Skills – one or more of MS SQL, MySQL, HIVE, Impala, SPARK SQL
- Data ingestion experience from message queue, file share, REST API, relational database, etc. and experience with data formats like json, csv, xml
- Excellent Object oriented programming experience with Python
- Experience working in Agile development process and deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience working with Kafka for streaming and HIVE (or equivalent) for historical storage
- Self-starter who works with minimal supervision and the ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets
Compensation
Hourly Rate: 60$-65$ per hour
This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
