Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Lead DevOps Platform Engineer will build, own, and evolve the enterprise DevOps platform in the organization.
Key responsibilities:
• Architect, build, and maintain the DevOps platform (Terraform, GitHub Actions, Vault, AWS, Kubernetes/EKS).
• Own platform services end-to-end—design, implementation, upgrades, feature releases, and long-term maintenance.
• Manage and improve CI/CD workflows and reusable frameworks (GitHub Actions, Jenkins optional, Terraform modules, Vault integrations).
• Develop platform features, automate onboarding processes, and increase overall DevOps maturity.
• Troubleshoot and own platform issues—jump in even if not formally on-call.
• Collaborate closely with principal engineers, leads, and application teams to influence DevOps practices across the organization.
• Provide guidance on IAM policies, Terraform structure/state mgmt, EKS usage, containerization, and platform governance.
• Support teams adopting the platform—answer user questions, define what’s supported, help them migrate.
• Contribute to platform strategy—drive automation, improve resilience, reduce manual “pulling,” increase event-driven workflows.
• Potential involvement in GenAI developer productivity tools (GitHub Copilot, internal AI tooling).
• Light touch on observability (Elastic) as needed—another team member owns this area.
30 / 60 / 90 Day Expectations:
First 30 Days
• Ramp up on existing DevOps platform architecture and components.
• Understand Terraform structure, GitHub Actions workflows, Vault integration, and AWS environment.
• Learn platform upgrade processes, support workflows, and documentation.
60–90 Days
• Contribute code: build features, fix bugs, address vulnerabilities.
• Release enhancements to GitHub Actions, Terraform modules, and platform automation.
• Take ownership of user support issues and define platform standards.
• Begin influencing DevOps maturity with partner teams.
Long-Term
• Drive platform strategy and lead large technical initiatives end-to-end.
• Increase automation and eliminate manual processes.
• Build trust with engineering teams and act as a technical leader across the organization.
• Own platform roadmaps and ensure long-term maintainability (no hand-offs).
