Client: Medical Device Company
Position Title: Tax Payroll Specialist
Duration: 3 months (Possible extension)
Location: St. Paul, MN 55117
Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
- Process backend payroll tax activities following payroll completion.
- Handle federal, state, and FICA tax compliance, including filings and reconciliations.
- Manage tax notices, respond to state agency inquiries, and coordinate with tax providers.
- Prepare and manage Power of Attorney and 3rd-party authorization documentation.
- Support multi-state payroll tax processing across high-volume environments
- Maintain accurate documentation, internal ticket updates, and communication with external tax vendors.
- Participate in testing activities for payroll tax projects and system/process updates.
- Work within a fast-paced environment requiring strict attention to detail and consistency.
- Attend team meetings, collaborate with internal partners, and support continuous process accuracy.
- 2–3 years of payroll tax experience (backend tax processing specifically).
- Solid foundation in federal, state, and FICA payroll taxes.
- Experience working with state agencies on tax matters.
- Hands-on work with tax notices, tax providers, and POA / 3rd-party authorizations.
- Multi-state payroll tax experience.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and general MS Office tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Close attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to handle high-volume workload.
- Self-motivated, consistent, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience supporting testing activities for payroll tax systems or process changes.
- Exposure to project-based payroll tax work.
