Position Title: Associate Scientist II
Duration: 12 months (possible extension based on business needs)
Location: St. Paul, MN 55117 — 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Perform materials characterization and assessment to support medical device project teams.
- Conduct hands-on laboratory testing using thermal and analytical techniques, including DSC, TGA, and FTIR.
- Support polymer materials characterization and analysis.
- Partner with scientists and cross-functional project teams to define test plans.
- Analyze test results and prepare technical reports.
- Document experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook within a regulated (GMP) environment.
- Apply materials science and chemistry principles in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
- Maintain strong attention to detail while managing multiple assignments concurrently.
- Communicate technical findings clearly through written documentation and verbal discussions.
- Work collaboratively within a dynamic, team-based laboratory environment.
- Hands-on experience with thermal analysis techniques (DSC and TGA).
- Experience with common materials characterization techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Candidates holding a Master’s or PhD are considered overqualified for this position.
- 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Experience operating analytical instrumentation in an industry or research setting.
- Experience documenting laboratory work using electronic or paper lab notebooks in compliance with GMP guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to perform hands-on laboratory work.
- Experience with polymer characterization and structure–property relationships.
- Familiarity with FTIR and SEM techniques.
- Working knowledge of Trios, Omnic, or LabVantage ELN systems.
Experience working in regulated medical device or life sciences environments.
