About role:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, patient-centered care in a 24/7 hospital setting, using the BSWH nursing professional practice model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care. Working three night shifts per week (6:45 PM–7:00 AM), the RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive patient outcomes and safe transitions of care. This role emphasizes strong clinical judgment, compassionate care, patient advocacy, and evidence-based practice. The RN also contributes to quality improvement, professional development, and a collaborative, ethical healthcare environment.

Responsibility:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care using the nursing process and the BSWH nursing professional practice model to ensure safe, effective outcomes.

  • Apply sound clinical judgment to identify patient and family needs, prioritize care, and modify care plans based on patient response and clinical outcomes.

  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care by creating a safe, therapeutic environment while managing physical and emotional pain and respecting patient diversity and values.

  • Advocate for patients and families by protecting confidentiality, dignity, and rights, addressing ethical concerns, and ensuring care aligns with patient goals and preferences.

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, delegating tasks in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act and following up to ensure continuity of care.

  • Support evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and professional standards by participating in clinical inquiry, performance improvement, and shared governance activities.

  • Facilitate education for patients, families, and staff, document learning outcomes, and commit to ongoing professional growth, competency development, and community service.
