Job description for BTP Technical lead
Onsite in Calgary, AB

• Integration Architecture & Development (SAP Integration Suite)
• Design, develop, and maintain integrations using Integration Suite (API Management, Event Mesh, Integration Advisor, B2B/EDI).
• Build and manage REST, OData, SOAP, and event-driven integrations.
• Implement robust error handling, monitoring, retry patterns, and secure connectivity.
• Develop API-first integration strategies leveraging API proxies, policies, throttling, and caching.
• Support S/4HANA, external systems, and BTP-based microservices integrations.
  
  
• SAP BTP Application Development
• Build cloud-native applications using CAP (Node.js/Java) and RAP (ABAP Cloud / S/4HANA Cloud ABAP).
• Create reusable services, data models, and OData v4 APIs.
• Implement multi-tenant BTP solutions where applicable.
• Use SAP HANA Cloud, HDI containers, CDS modeling.
• Build side-by-side extensions aligned with Clean Core.
  
  
• Event-Driven Architecture
• Design and implement event-based solutions using SAP Event Mesh and CAP event handlers.
• Integrate S/4HANA events for decoupled microservice scenarios.
• Develop asynchronous messaging and publish/subscribe patterns.
  
  
• Security & Authorization
• Implement cloud security using XSUAA, OAuth2, JWT, role collections, scopes, app-roles, and principal propagation.
• Leverage SAP IAS/IPS for identity management.
• Ensure secure destinations and encrypted communication.
  
  
• Cloud Transport Management & CI/CD
• Use SAP Transport Management Service (TMS) for cloud artifact transport.
• Work with Git-based development (GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab).
• Build CI/CD pipelines for CAP/RAP applications and Integration Suite artifacts.
• Implement automated testing, deployment scripts, and cloud-native quality checks.
  
  
• Operations, Monitoring & Support
• Monitor cloud applications and integrations using SAP Application Logging, Alert Notification Service, and SAP Cloud ALM.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and system-level integration failures.
• Maintain documentation, mappings, and operational runbooks.
  
  
• Governance & Clean Core
• Enforce SAP Clean Core practices across integrations and cloud extensions.
• Ensure in-app vs side-by-side extensibility follows SAP standards.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to integration roadmap planning.

• 6–10+ years experience in SAP integration and cloud development.
• Strong hands-on expertise with SAP Integration Suite (API Mgmt, Event Mesh, B2B, mapping tools).
• Practical experience building applications using CAP (Node.js/Java) and/or RAP (ABAP Cloud).
• Strong knowledge of SAP BTP services: Destination & Connectivity, XSUAA Authorization, HANA Cloud, Cloud Foundry or Kyma runtime.
• Solid understanding of cloud transport processes (TMS) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong alignment with Clean Core principles and SAP’s cloud extensibility framework.
• Experience designing REST/OData APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
