Hiring Manager Note:

This role requires a journeyman-level technician with hands-on experience working on Thermo King and Carrier refrigerated shipping containers. Direct experience with shipping containers is mandatory. The technician will support and guide apprentice-level team members as needed.

Role Overview:

The Refrigerated Container Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing pre-trip inspections on Thermo King and Carrier refrigerated shipping containers. The role includes troubleshooting and maintaining refrigeration systems and gensets to ensure equipment is reliable, compliant, and ready for transport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Thermo King and Carrier refrigerated containers and gensets

  • Repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components

  • Perform pre-trip inspections prior to shipment

  • Maintain and service thermo-electric gensets

  • Follow all safety standards and procedures during diagnostics and repairs

  • Coordinate with logistics and shipping teams to ensure containers are ready on schedule

  • Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance accurately

  • Assist with parts ordering and inventory management

  • Communicate repair progress and timelines to meet operational and customer expectations

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Refrigerated Container Technician or in a similar role

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Thermo King and Carrier systems

  • Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues

  • Experience conducting pre-trip inspections

  • EPA Certification

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Forklift operation experience or willingness to obtain certification

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Refrigeration or HVAC certification

  • Prior experience repairing refrigerated shipping containers

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental guidelines

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively
