Job Title:  Data Center Design Engineering Manager – Construction
Location: Seattle, WA 98101
Duration: 12-month contract
Pay Rate: $70.40/hr $74.40/hr 
Schedule: 40 hours per week

Position Overview:

  • Our client, Infrastructure Services, is seeking a Data Center Design Engineering Manager to lead design engineering efforts during the construction phase of data center projects.
  • This role sits at the intersection of design and construction, ensuring design intent is maintained, issues are resolved quickly, and projects stay on schedule.
  • You’ll work closely with internal teams, external engineers, and construction partners to drive execution in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage design engineering services throughout the construction phase, including review and resolution of RFIs, submittals, and design clarifications while meeting SLA requirements

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify design compliance and support urgent issue resolution across the AMER region

  • Lead technical discussions in OAC meetings and provide clear, actionable guidance on design-related construction challenges

  • Direct and coordinate AORs and EORs by setting priorities, deadlines, and accountability to support critical construction milestones

  • Maintain accurate and complete design documentation in Procore and Smartsheet, including models, reports, and drawings

  • Review and approve design changes during construction, ensuring alignment with client standards and coordination with the Design Phase Manager

  • Lead multidisciplinary punch walks, track findings, and ensure timely communication to stakeholders

  • Monitor design team performance against RFI and submittal review SLAs

  • Ensure proper closeout of project documentation, including record drawings, lessons learned, field reports, and AHJ approvals in Workdocs and Procore

  • Identify, assess, and escalate design-related risks, recommending solutions to protect schedule, quality, and cost

  • Drive timely resolution of design and construction issues through strong coordination and decision-making

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience across the full data center design lifecycle, from concept through construction closeout

  • Proven experience managing design teams during construction

  • Strong knowledge of construction administration processes and documentation

  • Demonstrated success delivering mission-critical facilities

  • Hands-on experience with Procore, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to travel within the AMER region as needed
