Role Overview
Seeking an experienced CDN Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager across multiple customer-facing web applications. This role will lead configuration, optimization, and performance tuning efforts while partnering closely with application development and security teams.
The ideal candidate will own operations end-to-end and grow into a technical lead role, driving best practices for caching strategy, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities

Lead configuration, optimization, and maintenance of CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager

Improve caching efficiency, reduce latency, and enhance web application performance

Partner with development teams to onboard new applications and validate CDN configurations

Perform ongoing tuning of caching rules, API security, and traffic management policies
-
Troubleshoot performance and delivery issues (cache misses, latency, regional routing)
-
Manage bot mitigation and CAPTCHA configurations to strengthen security posture

Monitor traffic and performance using Control Center and reporting tools
-
Automate configurations using APIs, CLI tools, or scripting (Python/Bash/Terraform)

Act as the SME, advising multiple application teams on best practices

Demonstrate leadership and ownership, evolving into the technical lead
Required Qualifications
-
5+ years of hands-on experience with CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager in production

Strong expertise in CDN caching strategies and performance optimization
-
Experience integrating with customer-facing web applications and APIs

Solid understanding of API security, routing rules, and traffic management
-
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve latency and performance issues

Proficiency with tools such as Control Center, mPulse, Ion, and GTM
-
Strong collaboration skills with application development teams

Excellent communication skills with a leadership and ownership mindset
Preferred Qualifications

Experience automating configurations via APIs, CLI, Python, Bash, or Terraform

Hands-on bot management tuning and CAPTCHA optimization experience

Background in utilities, energy, or large-scale customer-facing platforms

Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript for application-side coordination

Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience
