Location: North Chicago, IL  60064 – 100% Onsite
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00 an hour 

Purpose

The Chemist II supports analytical laboratory operations within regulated R&D environments. This role is responsible for independently executing analytical experiments, generating high-quality and compliant data, and supporting pipeline project testing. The Chemist II applies strong chemistry fundamentals, advanced analytical techniques, and documentation practices while ensuring adherence to safety, GMP, and GLP requirements. The role also involves data interpretation, protocol development, and presentation of experimental findings to broader scientific teams.

Experience & Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, or related scientific field with 5 years of laboratory experienceor
  • Master’s degree in a related scientific field with 2 years of laboratory experience (pharmaceutical industry)
  • Strong background in chemistry fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, LC/MS, ICP, and related techniques
  • Experience with chromatography data systems (e.g., Empower, OpenLab, Chromeleon)
  • Familiarity with GMP and GLP, and experience working in regulated laboratory environments
  • Excellent documentation and data integrity practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present scientific findings to larger groups
  • Research experience with presentations and/or publications (preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, spreadsheets, instrument-related systems)

Responsibilities

 

  • Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks using standard operating procedures and sound technical judgment.
  • Independently generate precise, reliable, and reproducible analytical data promptly
  • Accurately document experiments and results in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements
  • Demonstrate strong experimental precision, data interpretation, and understanding of core scientific principles.
  • Develop protocols for complex tests or experiments with less-defined assays and parameters.s
  • Ensure safety, GMP, GLP, and GxP requirements are met during all laboratory activities
  • Deliver high-quality, compliant data to support R&D pipeline projects
  • Utilize chromatography and analytical data systems for data acquisition and analysis
  • Present experimental results and findings to cross-functional and larger scientific audiences
  • Apply organizational and time-management skills to meet project timelines and laboratory priorities
  • Hands-on analytical position supporting regulated R&D activities
  • Collaborative environment with interaction across scientific, quality, and safety teams
