Title: Electrical Engineer
Engagement Type: 6 month contract with potential to go perm
Location: Onsite in Austin, TX

In this role, you will support the commissioning, startup, operation, and maintenance of electrical facilities systems with an initial focus on data center infrastructure and the opportunity to expand into vehicle and cell manufacturing operations over time.

Day-to-Day

  • Own and operate medium- and low-voltage electrical systems across site shops, including power distribution, UPS systems, transformers, busway power delivery, switchgear, and power for mechanical cooling systems.
  • Support the design, operation, and improvement of facility electrical systems through load flow analysis, power system studies, grounding evaluations, and equipment assessments.
  • Coordinate closely with maintenance, construction, manufacturing, IT, and utilities teams to plan and execute downtime activities with minimal disruption.
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues using first-principles thinking, supporting resiliency and reliability improvement projects, monitoring system performance through SCADA and power monitoring tools, and ensuring equipment installation and operation meet company standards.
  • Leverage CMMS systems to support preventative and reactive maintenance, help systemize electrical assets, and identify cost-reduction opportunities that improve reliability while optimizing facilities operating budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience demonstrating exceptional technical ability
  • 2–10 years of experience supporting operational facilities or high-tech infrastructure such as data centers, semiconductor, battery, solar, or similar environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical facilities systems using first-principles engineering
  • Experience working with medium-voltage electrical equipment (24.5 KV down to 480V), including operation, maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and familiarity with protective relays
  • Strong ability to interface and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines and system stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess electrical system issues, reduce downtime, and determine root cause using sound technical reasoning and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of utility substations and distribution power systems, UPS systems, and switchgear
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and sequence of operations
  • Familiarity with electrical safe work practices and applicable codes and standards, including OSHA requirements, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, IEEE 1584, IEEE C37, IEEE C57, and NETA-ATS / NETA-MTS guidelines

Preferred

  • Experience supporting electrical system resiliency, load and capacity planning, breaker coordination, and arc flash studies
