Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining plant compliance with federal state and local environmental health and safety regulations. This role provides strategic direction and hands on leadership to ensure a safe work environment while protecting employees property and the environment. The position partners closely with plant leadership engineering and operations to drive proactive EHS programs. The role plays a critical part in risk reduction regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage chemical process safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and technical standards.
- Develop update and deliver safety and environmental training programs aligned with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Lead plant incident investigations including fire spill and medical events and drive corrective actions.
- Facilitate and guide plant safety committee activities and engagement.
- Develop and apply safety criteria to eliminate or control operational and maintenance hazards.
- Conduct plant self assessments and risk assessments to ensure proactive compliance.
- Provide regulatory guidance to departments in alignment with internal procedures and policies.
- Develop and maintain EHS procedures programs and recordkeeping systems to meet global and regulatory standards.
- Support audits inspections and reporting requirements for regulatory and internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Science or Industrial Safety.
- Minimum six years of experience managing environmental health and safety programs in regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA EPA and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Proven experience leading incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Fluency in English and Spanish both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with flexible schedules as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting manufacturing or pharmaceutical operations.
- Knowledge of quality systems and FDA related regulations.
- Experience with safety equipment engineering controls and process safety devices.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
