Day to Day:

  • Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.
  • Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify any issues affecting safe operation.
  • Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars as part of train assembly or disassembly.
  • Replace damaged or broken railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).
  • Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment
  • Must Haves:
  • Need FRA Certification 2-3 years of rail experience desired (Switching or conductor experience)
  • Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices
  • Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
  • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited.

  • Plusses:
  • Previous experience in rail yard or switching operations.
  • Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures. Training in railcar or track maintenance is a plus
