Position Overview:
  • We are seeking an experienced Accountant – Advanced to join our Insurance Finance department in the Reporting functional unit.
  • This is a 6-month contract position with a strong potential for extension (additional 6 months) and a possibility of conversion to a full-time employee role.
  • The successful candidate will primarily focus on journal entry preparation while supporting the month-end close cycle, audit processes, and ongoing enhancements related to the IFRS 17 implementation (a major international accounting standard for insurance contracts that enhances transparency, comparability, and profitability reporting in the insurance industry).

Daily Responsibilities:
  • A typical day will involve a mix of core accounting tasks and support for financial reporting processes:
  • Primary Focus (Initial Stage): Preparing and posting accurate journal entries.
  • Supporting the month-end close cycle (including reconciliations, accruals, adjustments, and finalizing financial statements).
  • Assisting with internal and external audits and collaborating with other finance stakeholders.
  • Contributing to ongoing process improvements and enhancements for the month-end close, particularly related to IFRS 17 go-live (a new standard requiring updated measurement, presentation, and disclosure of insurance contracts).
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Completion or pursuit of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA: CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years).
  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry (insurance preferred) in progressive finance roles.
  • Exceptional Excel skills (very important – advanced modeling, data analysis, and manipulation).
  • 3+ years of experience with financial analytic modeling systems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Windows-based software.
  • Seasoned professional with strong ability to work independently, attention to detail, and preference for candidates with relevant experience over junior profiles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Understanding of insurance products and insurance accounting.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft (ERP system for financials and reporting), Tableau (data visualization), Aptitude (specialist finance software for accounting automation, subledgers, and compliance, including IFRS 17 support), or AI tools.
Soft Skills:
