Product Design Engineer – Wearable Devices

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for wearable consumer products

• Own designs from concept, CAD, prototyping, and testing through mass production

• Build and evaluate prototypes; iterate designs based on test results

• Perform design analysis using strong mechanical fundamentals

• Design for high-volume manufacturing with DFM/DFA and tolerance considerations

• Collaborate with industrial design, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers

• Support design reviews, failure analysis, and continuous product improvements

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• 3–10 years of experience as a Product Design Engineer in consumer electronics

• Experience working on high-volume, mass-produced consumer products

• Background from companies shipping products at scale (e.g., Apple, Tesla, or similar)

• Strong experience in component design, prototyping, and testing

• Solid design analysis skills and strong core mechanical fundamentals

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with wrist-worn wearable devices (smartwatches, fitness trackers)

• Experience with small form-factor, highly integrated consumer devices

• Exposure to durability, environmental, and reliability testing (drop, sweat, IP ratings)
