Title: Junior Data Engineer
Duration: 2-month initial contract + 6-month extension (8 months total potential)
Location: Toronto, ON- 4 Day's Onsite, 1 Day WFH
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $45-$50/hour
Interview Process: Round 1: Virtual (Technical + Assessment Review)/ Round 2: In-Person
Must-Haves:
- Foundational SQL skills
- Python (data engineering/data management focus) OR Java with Spark
- Understanding of data engineering fundamentals and distributed data processing
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong learning mindset, curiosity, and ability to self-teach
- AWS experience (S3, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation concepts)
- Experience with Spark, Scala, or PySpark
- Exposure to data lakes, lakehouse architectures, or Apache Iceberg
Plues / Nice-to-Haves:
- Financial services or investment data exposure
- Familiarity with data governance or data cataloging concepts
