Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Biologist III to support oncology discovery research in a highly execution-focused laboratory environment. This is a bench-heavy role (~90% hands-on lab work) requiring candidates who can step in and execute immediately with minimal ramp-up.
The successful candidate will work under scientific guidance but must be comfortable independently executing experiments and troubleshooting routine issues. This role is not suitable for entry-level or fresh undergraduate candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform extensive mammalian cell culture and tissue culture work
- Engineer, generate, characterize, and maintain stable mammalian cell line models
- Conduct lentiviral workflows, including:Lentivirus production, Infection / spinfection, Generation of stable cell lines
- Apply molecular biology techniques, including:
- Genomic DNA (gDNA) extraction
- Designing and setting up PCR reactions
- Execute routine and complex in vitro experiments with high reproducibility and data quality
- Accurately document experimental methods, observations, and results
- Perform experimental troubleshooting with guidance from senior scientists
- Follow, adapt, and execute laboratory protocols to support early-stage drug discovery
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety, quality, and procedural standards
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary research team to support project goals
Required Qualifications
- MS in Biology or related field, OR BS in Biology with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience
- Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture
- Demonstrated experience generating and maintaining stable cell lines
- Hands-on experience with lentivirus production and transduction
- Practical experience with: PCR setup and experimental design, Genomic DNA extraction
- Solid foundation in cellular and molecular biology
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from scientific leadership
- Comfortable in a highly execution-focused bench role
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Background in oncology or cancer biology (preferred, not required)
- Experience with AAV (Adeno-Associated Virus) workflows
- Exposure to NGS or library preparation
- Experience troubleshooting experiments in a research environment
- Familiarity working in matrixed or cross-functional teams
