Mission: The mission of this role is to develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy that highlights innovation across ecosystem, strengthens brand positioning, and drives engagement across digital, print, and social platforms. This role serves as a highly visible ambassador for INVO, translating complex research and innovation into compelling, accessible narratives for diverse, high-level audiences.
Day-to-Day:
  • Leading marketing and communications across digital, print, and social media platforms
  • Owning and enforcing brand consistency and visual identity across all materials
  • Creating multimedia content including:
    • Written copy
    • Graphic design assets
    • Video and animation content
  • Designing marketing materials such as:
    • Brochures
    • Social media graphics
    • Event and promotional materials
  • Supporting events, alumni engagement, and fundraising campaigns
  • Managing publications (magazines, newsletters) and coordinating with freelance contributors
  • Producing technical illustrations and overseeing print production
  • Collaborating with writers, photographers, and web developers to ensure cohesive messaging
  • Partnering with faculty, researchers, and external stakeholders
  • Promoting initiatives related to innovation, sustainability, and energy research
  • Maintaining and updating content using CMS tools and basic HTML as needed
Must Haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 5+ years experience in marketing, communications, or digital content creation
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for senior-level and external audiences
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
    • Canva
  • Proven experience creating multimedia and visual content for both digital and print
  • Experience working cross-functionally with faculty, leadership, alumni, or donors
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable in a high-visibility role
  • Working knowledge of basic HTML and content management systems
  • Portfolio demonstrating original graphic design and multimedia work
Plusses:
  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Background in public relations, journalism, or communications
  • Experience working in a research university, academic institution, or start-up
  • Project Management certification
  • Experience designing accessible and inclusive content
